Orthodontic treatment isn’t as difficult as you may think, especially if you’re using ClearCorrect clear aligners to straighten your teeth. Clear aligner therapy from Flower Mound Dental in Flower Mound, TX, offers greater comfort and ease over traditional metal braces. Still, you may have questions about the effectiveness of this treatment. Dr. William E. Wyatt, Jr., answers those questions here.
ClearCorrect is a modern cosmetic orthodontic treatment that uses clear aligners to straighten your teeth. The aligners work like metal braces to shift crooked teeth into a straighter position, without contending with brackets and wires on your teeth.
ClearCorrect makes use of a series of clear, plastic aligners to straighten your teeth. These aligners exert gentle pressure on your teeth to slowly move them to a straighter position. The aligners are custom-fitted for your teeth and changed every few weeks to keep up the momentum of shifting your teeth. You’ll wear the aligners 20-22 hours a day, removing them for brief periods when you eat and brush your teeth. Your treatment ends when your smile goals are achieved.
Most people with mild to moderate orthodontic issues can benefit from this treatment. If your problems are severe, Dr. William Wyatt may recommend metal braces to straighten your teeth.
As no two orthodontic treatments are the same, there’s no set timeframe for completion. A lot depends on the problems that need to be addressed, the complexity of your case, and your compliance with wearing the aligners as instructed. On average, ClearCorrect treatments last 12-18 months.
ClearCorrect aligners are removed for eating, so there are no dietary restrictions. However, we recommend you stick to a healthy diet to avoid problems with decay and other dental issues that can delay your treatment. Aligners should always be removed for snacks, meals, and drinking any beverage other than water to protect them from staining and accidental damage.
The aligners can be brushed with clear liquid soap and rinsed in warm water every time they’re removed. This keeps them fresh and hygienic for your use. When they’re not in use, store your aligners in a safe place where they won’t get lost or damaged.
