Earth day 2020 COVID-19 style

Earth Day 2020 falls on Wednesday, April 22. Celebrating Earth Day 2020 might be a little different from last year as we stay at home. This year we will need to social distance ourselves while enjoying that beautiful, amazing earth of ours. Earth Day also turns 50 this year. By visiting the Official Earth Day 2020 Website, you can learn more about how to flood our digital landscape with Earth Day 2020 action.

Get Outdoors and Play

No matter where you are, you can take action and make a difference. Get outdoors and take a nature walk. Photograph the trees, flowers, and wildlife in your area and share your photos on social media. You can also watch live video events from the Earth Day 2020 website. Just because you are at home, does not mean you can not enjoy the nature that is close to your own home.

Simple Stay At Home Earth Day 2020 Tips

  1. Teleconference instead of traveling. If you fly five times per year, those trips are likely to account for 75% of your personal carbon footprint. Right now many are learning how to work from home while still providing amazing customer service and support. So many jobs can be done using teleconference tools which will significantly reduce our business travel needs and requirements. This is great for the environment!
  2. Donate your old clothes and home goods instead of throwing them out. Many companies are still able to stop by for a socially distanced porch pick up.
  3. Use cloth towels instead of paper ones. This is an easy one right now, because paper towels are very hard to find!
  4. Read documents online instead of printing them.
  5. If you must print, set your printer to print two-sided.
  6. Run your dishwasher only when it’s full.
  7. Fix leaky faucets. Many of us have extra time to catch up on household chores and tasks.
  8. Turn off lights when you leave the room.
  9. Turn off and unplug electronics you’re not using. This includes turning off your computer at night.
  10. Conserve water outdoors by only watering your lawn in the early morning or late at night. Use drought-resistant plants in dry areas.
